How to Check if Your Website is Down Around the World (4 Free Tools)

Watch on YouTube.

Have you ever had a client call you saying, “My website isn’t working!” only for you to check it and see it’s running perfectly fine?

This is a common headache for web developers and business owners. Usually, if a site is down for one person but up for others, it’s a local ISP (Internet Service Provider) issue or a temporary regional block.

To give your clients peace of mind, you can use free online tools to prove the website is visible from different cities and countries. Here are four simple tools to check your website’s global availability.

4 Free Tools

1. Uptimia.com — is great because it gives you a visual map of your site’s status.

How it works: Enter your URL and click “Test Now.”

What you get: It tests your site from 18 different locations.

The Bonus: On a large screen, it shows a map and tells you exactly how fast your website loads in different parts of the world.

2. WheresItUp.com — If you need to check specific regions like the Middle East or Asia, Where Is It Up is a fantastic choice.

What to look for: Look for the “200” Response Code. This green light means the website is accessible.

Coverage: It checks cities across Europe, Asia (including Turkey and Pakistan), America, and Australia.

3. Openstatus.dev — This tool is perfect if you want a massive data set to show your client.

Coverage: It tests across 28 different regions.

Global reach: It covers everything from Sweden and France to Singapore, Brazil, Japan, and South Africa. If it shows green here, your site is definitely live!

4. GeoPeeker.com — offers something the others don’t: a visual receipt.

The Feature: It loads your website from six major locations (like California, Ireland, and Singapore) and provides a screenshot of what the page looks like in those places.

Why use it: It’s the ultimate proof to show a client that the design is rendering correctly across the globe.

Why is the website down for my client but up for me?

If these tools show the site is “Up” but your client still can’t see it, it is likely a local issue. In many cases, it is a temporary problem with their specific internet provider. Usually, after a short wait, the connection clears up on its own.
